We are seeking $43.77 million to help realise the SJ's vision for a modern, contemporary recreation centre and we need your support!

This funding will include some major benefits to our community by providing these new facilities.

Four compliant basketball courts, and modern change facilities.
More space for futsal and other sport and rec activities.

Basketball is one of the most popular indoor sports played in the Shire, with local basketball clubs supporting more than 800 junior and senior players. Unfortunately many people have to travel out of the Shire to play.

I am writing to express my strong support for urgent funding to upgrade the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale's Community Recreation Centre.

A redeveloped recreation centre in Byford will provide much needed recreation, sport and wellness facilities for our growing community.

The centre’s two basketball courts are currently at full booking capacity, meaning that residents have to travel out of the Shire to play sport.

Government support for this project will enable greater participation in sport, foster stronger community connections, and provide a safe and welcoming space for young people and other groups to engage in meaningful activities.

This redevelopment is not just about improving a building—it is about strengthening our community, promoting health and wellbeing, and creating opportunities for all.

I urge you to prioritise funding for this vital project. Together, we can build a brighter future for Serpentine Jarrahdale.
